Edwin Van Amringe Geology Scholarship
The Edwin V. Van Amringe Memorial Geology Scholarship is awarded annually in honor of the late Professor Edwin V. Van Amringe, with a view to stimulating interest in the field of geology, which he taught and exemplified at Pasadena City College from 1924 to 1956.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a declared major in Geology
- Shall have achieved outstanding success in the study of geological sciences, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in geology Courses
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Shall have a satisfactory overall record in scholarship and citizenship;
- Shall have completed a minimum of two semesters at Pasadena City College;
- Shall normally be, at the time of the award, graduating from Pasadena City College or have otherwise completed the geology curriculum.
- Be accepted to and will matriculate to a four-year college university in the academic year following the award, where they will pursue studies in a field where achievement in the geological sciences will be of immediate and lasting value.
Selection Criteria:
- Acceptance to (and matriculation to) a four-year institution as a geology major in the academic year following the award. Demonstration thereof in the form of an acceptance letter required prior to the release of funds.
- Overall GPA in related fields (STEM)
- Performance in advanced Geology Courses (Geology 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 30x)
- Extracurricular activities in Geology
