Ben Rude Memorial Scholarship

The Ben Rude Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to high-performing students with a 3.50 GPA Or higher.

Ben taught at Pasadena City College from 1962 to 1991, retiring as Professor Emeritus but continuing in adjunct status until December 1997. (35 years total). During that time he served for many years as the Foreign Student Advisor and taught linguistics and the history of the English language. Ben received the Ralph Story Award. He always said that he could not have had a more enjoyable or meaningful career, and he would be thrilled to have a scholarship in his name at the institution that he loved.

Professor Rude received his BA in English from CSULA in 1959; and received MA’s in English and Linguistics in 1961 and 1967 from CSU-Northridge and USC, respectively.
