Tiana Sanders #24 Scholarship
Alumnae Tiana Sanders, already inducted into the Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, has been chosen to be part of the 2016 class of the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA) Hall of Fame. Like the PCC HOF, Sanders is the first Lancers women’s basketball player to go into the state coaches HOF.
Sanders was the state Player of the Year for the Southern California region in her only season for the Lancers in 1998-99. She continues to hold the PCC school record for most points in a season (744, 22.5 average), and that total remains No. 16 on the all-time scoring list.
Sanders helped the Lancers win the South Coast Conference title, put together a 22-game win streak, and secure a 31-2 overall record. Besides scoring, she led the team in rebounding (7.6 boards per game) and in steals (2.6 per contest).
She earned a scholarship to play at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. A product and former San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year at Muir High, Sanders attended Central Arizona College on a NJCAA champion team her freshman season before transferring to PCC. Sanders played here for current Lancers head coach Joe Peron.
Sanders is a philanthropist and currently works for the USPS in Memphis, TN. Also doing entrepreneurial work, she plans to launch a new Books and Ball camp next year.
