The Mark Lacter Journalism Scholarship

Mark Lacter was a multi-award winning business journalist who, over the course of his career, was a columnist for the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, senior editor at FORBES MAGAZINE, editor of the LOS ANGELES BUSINESS JOURNAL, editorial page editor at the LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS, and business columnist for LOS ANGELES MAGAZINE. He was a prodigious blogger on LA BIZ OBSERVED, and—in one of his favorite gigs—business analyst for KPCC’s Morning Edition with Steve Julian. Mark was known for his ability to take complex issues and make them accessible and fun to read. LA WEEKLY called him “the dean of Los Angeles business journalism." He would be proud to know he was helping a deserving student get started in a career as a print journalist.
